Stay-at-Home Moms - Why Writing for Children Can Be the Perfect Job for You

Stay-at-Home Moms - Why Writing for Children Can Be the Perfect Job for You
By Suzanne Lieurance

If you're a stay-at-home mom with small children, writing for kids can be the perfect part-time job for you. Here's why:

1) You're in contact with kids 24/7, so you know what kids think about and how they talk. This can be very helpful when trying to develop story lines that kids would enjoy reading. It will also help you write dialogue that sounds like things kids would actually say these days.

As a mom, you probably also read many picture books to your own child or children. And, as every writer knows, one of the best ways to learn to write picture books and other stories for children, is to READ these types of materials. So just think - each time you read to your child, you'll also be doing something to develop your own career as a writer.

2) Since your full time job is taking care of your family, you'll probably only have short snatches of time during the day and evening to write. But this is perfect for writing short works for kids - things like picture books, easy readers, and even magazine articles and short-stories.

And, if you carry a pocket-size notebook with you during the day, while you're watching the kids play at the park, or supervising them as they go about their daily chores, you can take notes for story or articles ideas. And, please note, it IS important to jot down a few notes about your ideas. Otherwise, by the end of the day you will have forgotten them.

3) In addition to writing stories and articles FOR kids, you will also develop a wealth of topics for writing ABOUT kids - articles for parenting magazines, for example, or even tips for classroom teachers.

And, there are usually at least a couple of small regional parenting publications in every large city, so you can gain publishing credits by starting out writing for these publications. If you're good at it, you might even eventually gain your own regular column in one of these publications.

4) You can develop professional connections and associations with other moms who write, so you'll have other adults to communicate with on a regular basis every day. Many moms can feel isolated when their only contact during the day is with their children. But as a children's writer and mom, you can become part of a professional network of other stay-at-home moms who write for children.

5) You'll build up your writing skills and publishing credits through the years, so by the time your children have grown and left the nest, you will probably be able to make the transition from part time children's writer to full time children's writer fairly easily if you so desire.

As you can see, for moms who like to write, writing for children offers the perfect part-time career.

Ideas To Keep Your Online Home Business In Income Generating Mode

Ideas To Keep Your Online Home Business In Income Generating Mode
By Cynthia Minnaar

It is important that you continue doing what has worked up to now to drive targeted traffic to your online home business, which has turned it into an income generating business.

Here are some ideas to help you maintain momentum and increase your web income.

Regularly write and submit articles to the article directories and be sure to place your keywords in the title of the article as well as the body and to anchor your keyword phrase and url to your website in the author resource box to increase the one way backlinks to your site.

Make regular constructive and positive contributions in forums which will increase the backlinks to your site.

Strive to get good quality links to your website. Search for high ranking pages which are related to your industry and then email the webmaster requesting a link.

Build your links steadily and surely, it does not pay to go and buy hundreds of backlinks as this is frowned upon by the search engines. Google, in particular, gives credit where it is due, by rewarding sites which are accumulating genuine backlinks.

Continue submitting your website to the Directories. Check if they allow for the indexing of your web pages so you benefit from the backlink.

Some Directories offer both free and paid submissions, with a long time delay for the free submissions which are subject to a reciprocal link on your site, so be sure to check if your site has been listed into the directory. Bear in mind that it has been known for some directories to never add the free listings, in the hope that you will eventually opt for the paid listing and in the meantime you will be linking to a directory with no link back and the directory is benefiting from the exposure on your site.

Check your backlinks on a regular basis, once a week is ideal. You can be penalized by the search engines for linking to sites that do not link back. Use a good backlink checker or link exchange software to check your link exchanges

Remove unnecessary links from your web page. By linking out to these web sites you will be giving away a portion of your page rank which you could be passing through to your site and at the same time you could be jeopardizing your rankings by doing this.

Regularly check that all the links on your own online home business website are functioning properly.

Periodically check your autoresponder messages by sending a test message to yourself.

Keep a daily check on your pay per click campaigns to ensure that they are running to budget and make any necessary adjustments to keep up with the competition. Also check on any other paid advertising that you may have running.

Continue with your social bookmarking and blogging regularly.

Keep an eye on the positioning of your web site in the search engine results and continue optimizing your website and adding fresh content to stay ahead of your competition and ensure you site ranks well.

To recap, keep doing and checking on what you were doing to get your online home business to the income-generating stage and add extra methods of internet marketing to further propel the momentum to increase your online home business income.

Finding A Proven Income Opportunity That's Right For You

Finding A Proven Income Opportunity That's Right For You
By Jason Wilson

When you become interested in making money online, your first instinct is to scour the internet, looking for an income opportunity proven to deliver results. With so many different programs available, it can be incredibly difficult to decide on the best opportunity for you. It can be confusing, time consuming, and downright frustrating if you don’t know what to look for or where to start. This article should assist you in figuring out the qualities that make up a solid, lasting home business. Take the information and go find the proven income opportunity you have been looking for.

The most important thing you should look at when choosing an income opportunity is the products you will represent. Virtually every opportunity out there is based on selling a product or service to a particular demographic. You should immediately identify what the product or service is, and figure out if you feel comfortable selling it. If you are not totally convinced that what will be representing has value, then you should not move forward with that particular business model.

Find something that you believe in, and feel great about sharing it with your clients and customers. Belief is one of the most important ingredients to becoming successful, no matter what it is you are doing. You will know when you have found the right thing by how it makes you feel. If your initial reaction is “People need this!” then you may be on the right track. However, if your first thoughts are “Will people want this?” then you may want to keep searching.

Another important aspect a business model is profitability. Any good income opportunity is going to have a unique compensation plan that is robust and powerful. You are not going to know what your results will be until you do it yourself, but make sure there is a strong potential to generate hefty profits. You do want to get paid well, don’t you? Too many people put time into opportunities that have very little profit potential long term. A telltale sign of this is when the products or services involved have small price tags. How many $15.00 products are you going to have to sell in order to make substantial profits? At the end of the day, it makes more sense to focus on something that has a high profit margin so you don’t have to sell a truckload to make a nice profit. A good rule of thumb is that if you aren’t making at least $1000.00 per sale, it is going to be very difficult to build a multiple six-figure to seven-figure income.

You should also find out right away if the business is duplicatable. Most business plans that allow you to generate substantial profits are going to be simple enough that you can duplicate the results others are having. Make sure you can generate business quickly, so that you gain confidence and continue to build on your success. Also, check to see that you have the ability to build an organization of business associates or affiliates to represent your company. This will expand your customer base, and allow you to start earning residuals from the combined sales of your organization. A residual income is one of the best ways to build an extremely profitable business long-term. If you can build enough residual income, you may be able to rake in big profits while your business is on auto-pilot.

Always make sure there are successful people currently involved with the income opportunity you are considering. If you hear testimonials, sense whether or not they seem genuine or scripted. Find out what level the top earners are playing at, and make sure you have the potential to reach your desired results in terms of income. If you can’t get some verified success stories, then you don’t know if the business plan actually is tested and proven. Bottom line, you are looking for a top quality company with leaders that are getting the results you desire in life.

Lastly, it is imperative that the income opportunity you choose has training and support in place. The right dynamic business will certainly have system for you to duplicate. There is a 90% failure rate in starting a business with no system to duplicate. If you lack direction in your business, then you are flying by the seat of your pants and learning through trial and error. The company should have training system in place to assist you in building success strategies and understanding the core fundamentals of running the business. Also, the infrastructure to support your business should be a priority. There should be a strong focus on self development and building a successful mentality. In closing, simply finding a program with these characteristics drastically increase your chances of building a highly successful home business. Any opportunity with those characteristics can truly be called a proven income opportunity.

The Easiest Online Business

The Easiest Online Business
By Lakshmi Menon

If you are looking for making money from your home using your computer, you would have already seen millions of opportunities, each promising the sky, and getting confused which are the ones to choose. It is very easy to get carried away with these promises and lose your money and time, if you cannot recruit people.

If you are a newbie on this adventure, it is easy to start with simple work at home opportunities. Auto-surfing is one of the best online opportunities available on the net to make money by working at home, without much efforts.

All that you need is a computer with internet access. You don't need to build a website. No need to spend on advertising.

Joining is free. But just by a free member you won't earn much. Then you may wonder how do you make money.

When you sign up with an auto-surfing company they will give you a free $5 or $10 account level membership. Then your work is just log into your account and click on the respective icon such as “view4credits” or something like that, just start surfing. You will be watching other company sites one by one, with a timer of 15 to 30 seconds,(it varies) just like watching television advertisements. Once you have viewed the minimum required number of sites you will be credited with 1% of your account level.

You have the option to upgrade your account level according to your financial position, which ultimately increases your monthly income.

In addition to this, you can also get free credits which can be used to promote your other opportunities to get more referrals. This serves as a free advertisement for you.

Many people are earning good income with this type of auto-surfing.

One word of caution. Before joining any such programs, it will be wise to visit their forum and see what others are talking about them. Reading the information found there you will be in a better position to make a decision whether you want to join there or not.

If you can use crazy browser (which is available free) you can auto-surf more number of sites at the same time, which will obviously minimise your time.

In this way by joining few good auto-surfing companies, with upgraded levels, it will not be difficult to earn a good income from the comfort of your home.

The New Internet Home Work: How Much Do You Really Need to Know to Get Started?

The New Internet Home Work: How Much Do You Really Need to Know to Get Started?
By Bob Brooker

You? Start your own Internet business? Give me a break! You just don’t speak the language, so why even try?

It begins with ‘booting up’ your computer instead of just turning it on. And you can’t simply fill in the necessary information to get something connected: it has to be 'configured.' Also, it's painfully apparent that computer tables and windows bear no resemblance whatsoever to the kind you have in your living room, nor is a browser someone meandering through your local bookstore. And the only directory you know anything about is full of telephone numbers.

Then, of course, there are all those blasted letters: DSL, RAM, ROM, POP, RSS, HTML, FTP, MLM . . . Good grief! How can someone like you even think about starting an online business? Hey, it’s for the kids. They understand all this jargon, all this technical stuff. But you . . .

Well, what about you? Okay. So maybe you don't know what most of those letters mean. And it's a safe bet you don't know a tenth of what the average techie does . . . maybe not even as much as today's computer-savvy ten-year-old. But does that mean you can't do this stuff?

At least, before you decide to pass on the exhilaration of creating your own online business (not to mention the extra bucks you might have at the end of the month), let's look at two possibilities.

First of all, the fact that you have no idea how a telephone works (unless you’re a Verizon repair person) has never stopped you from making phone calls. And you're not afraid to turn on the television set because you don't know how all those moving pictures get inside that little box.

And speaking of letters, even if you had no idea what 'TV' stood for, you could still watch "American Idol." Nor is it necessary to know what ATM means in order to make a cash withdrawal.

Why, letter combos are positively old hat. RPMs have been around since before Sinatra, and mpg was a Henry Ford staple.

All any of it is, really, is that secretarial staple of yesteryear: shorthand. Only these letter codes are a heck of a lot easier to understand than all those lines and squiggles.

Just to convince yourself it's no big deal, why not invent some code of your own? Certainly you have as much right to do it as any computer techie. So why not tell them to FTL and PHO . . . and be absolutely sure they NLFD. That’s Fold The Laundry, Pre-Hear the Oven, and make sure they’re Not Late For Dinner. Remember: sticks and stones can break your bones, but letters can never hurt you. Nor should they stop you.

Okay. That’s the first possibility: breaking the code may not be as necessary as you think it is, e.g., you don't have to know that NaCl is salt in order to sprinkle some on your tomato.

Even so . . . whether you actually need to know all of it or not, maybe you’d be more comfortable if you did. And, obviously, it would be helpful if you knew at least some of it.

Which brings us to possibility number two. Why not learn a few new things? Actually, that’s what makes life an ongoing adventure: no matter how long you’ve been around and how much you’ve discovered already, there’s always something (in fact, plenty!) left to learn.

And the good news is that, with the Internet, learning just got a whole lot easier. You can't use the excuse that it's too cold to go to school, or too hot to go to the library. There's information enough on the Internet for you to earn a PhD just by clicking on your mouse. So what's your excuse now?

I remember, when I was a kid, looking at a piano, and thinking: “How could anyone ever know what all those keys are for?” Truth is, I was afraid to take piano lessons because I was convinced that I’d look foolish if I tried.

And therein lies the rub: we’re so afraid we’ll look foolish that we’re willing to be foolish instead! And how foolish would it be to refuse to learn new things - - things that could help us in any number of ways, brighten our lives, ease our financial burdens - - just because we’re afraid we'll look foolish!

But that's another great thing about the computer. We don't have to walk up to the blackboard with the whole class staring at us. We don't have to worry about tripping, or not knowing the answer, or . . . well, any of the things that seemed to go along with learning back in the good old days.

We can be clumsy and bumbling and slow . . . and nobody will ever know! Even if we do look foolish, it will be for our eyes only. The computer makes us blessedly, mercifully anonymous. It lets us learn and work at our own pace, whatever that pace may be.

And so, if those letter combos have you feeling a bit inadequate, go ahead and look up the definitions. There are plenty of free computer and Internet glossaries available online. My personal favorite is www.Webopedia.com.

Or, if you’re not exactly sure-fingered on the computer, check out some tutorials. Get up to speed on Word or Windows or whatever else you’d like to try. It doesn't cost much. In fact, you can do it for free.

And then, you can move on to setting up your own online business. Yes: YOU!

After all, when you think about it, not getting your slice of the Internet pie just because you’ve let the jargon scare you off is like refusing a cruise to the Bahamas because you don’t understand the bar code on the ticket.

So why not hop on board PDQ. (That’s Pretty Darn Quick, in case you didn’t know.) You’ve got nothing to lose . . . and who knows what-all to gain?

Bob Brooker's mission is to make home-based Internet business accessible even to Internet beginners. Bob -- himself a devout non-techie -- looks for and personally tests products that are the simplest to understand and use, even if your computer skills are limited to sending an occasional e-mail to your sister. http://www.makingmoneysimplified.com

Garage Sale - A Fun Way To Make Quick Cash

Garage Sale - A Fun Way To Make Quick Cash
By Conleth Onu

Garage sale is a great way to get rid of unwanted items, plus make some money. Everybody accumulates the kind of stuff that other people are searching for and are willing to buy. If you have lots of stuff you no longer use or want, consider having a garage sale. There is no reason to go on storing items you'll never use.

You can make good money by holding a garage sale. Holding a garage sale provides an outlet for unwanted items, which other people are looking for, and will pay good money for.

Examples of such items are: furniture items, toys, vacuum sweepers, lawn mowers, jewelry, baseball cards, camping equipment, drinking glasses, dishes, dolls, salt and pepper shakers, coins, toasters, toys, clothes, hair dryers, coffee pots, roller skates, old records, bikes, furniture, pictures, books, sporting equipment, televisions, bags, CDs, tape recorders, household tools, and other items that you have no use for anymore.

You don't need a garage to hold a garage sale. A garage sale can be held anywhere - yard, lawn, basement, garage, porch, or house. But you need to know why people go to garage sales, what items they buy and how to set prices on your merchandise.

Before you hold your garage sale, visit a few sales in your area to see how the items are displayed, how they are tagged, what people are buying. Find out how they priced the items, then price your own merchandise accordingly.

People will buy just about anything at a garage sale. You'd be surprised. But they are looking for bargains. They usually expect a big discount on items that have been used. Don't disappoint them.

You need to advertise. Advertise your sale in the local newspaper, shopper guides, on bulletin boards and even online. Advertise your garage sale all over the neighborhood. State the date and times of the sale, the address, and special items you have for sale that will draw customers. Word of mouth is also an excellent advertising method. Make your garage sale known to as many people as you can.

Place signs in high-traffic intersections within a few miles of the location of the sale. Use sturdy cardboard and big lettering.

Make sure you remove your signs once the sale is over. You don't want people coming to your house after the sale is over.

Be sure to check with your local officials regarding laws and regulations of garage sales.

You can make money out of a garage sale, if you do it right. There are many resources available that can provide you with the information and tips you need to hold a successful garage sale. The Internet offers garage sale information, guides, and other resources, which can lead you in the right direction to making money with a garage sale.

Conleth C Onu is the owner of http://www.garagesaleprofit.com/ which is a great place to find garage sale information, resources and articles.
